India Modi tweets photo receiving first COVID vaccine | News on the coronavirus pandemic

India’s Prime Minister is urging everyone who is eligible to get vaccinated in a bid to rid the country of the novel coronavirus.

The Indian Prime Minister tweeted a photo of himself receiving a first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 70, who took off his mask to smile for the photo, said in a tweet that he was urging everyone who is eligible to get vaccinated in a bid to rid India of the novel coronavirus.

“I took my first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at AIIMS,” Modi tweeted on Monday, referring to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences hospital in the capital New Delhi.

“I appeal to all those who have the right to be vaccinated. Together, let’s make India free from COVID-19, ”added the Indian leader.

India is expanding its COVID-19 vaccination campaign beyond healthcare and frontline workers, offering the vaccines to the elderly and those with health conditions that put them at risk.

People now eligible for vaccination include people over 60, as well as those over 45 who suffer from conditions such as heart disease or diabetes that make coronavirus infections more dangerous.
