NASA to send two missions to Venus by 2030

Earlier last year, NASA awarded four teams $ 3 million each to the space agency could develop into full-fledged expeditions. He now plans to go ahead with two of these projects, and there is a shared Venus chart between them.

It will also deploy a “sphere of descent” which will traverse the atmosphere of the planet by collecting data on the gases which are there. The second mission, VERITAS or Venus Emissivity, Radio Science, InSAR, Topography and Spectroscopy, will travel to the planet to create detailed three-dimensional maps of its surface using synthetic aperture radar. It will also track infrared emissions from the surface to map the composition of its rocks, something scientists don’t know much about. With VERITAS, NASA hopes to better understand how geological forces work on Venus and understand why the planet developed so differently from Earth.

To make these projects a reality, NASA is providing each with approximately $ 500 million in funding. The agency says it expects them to be launched from Earth between 2028 and 2030.
